1. Jo Taylor's exhibition at the School House Gallery in Wighton. A must for fans of sporting art with a difference.
2. Lovely fish for lunch at The Anchor in Morston on the way to Jo's exhibition. A must for complete bloaters like me.
3. Driving through the Norfolk villages of Morston (my second favourite village named after a Derby winner, the first being Blakeney, winner in the year of my birth), Stiffkey (best local store in the world) and Walsingham, with a completely unexpected shrine. A must for all Roman Catholics, which I am not, cue argument with Julian.
4. Riding Panto. A star as always and the horse for which the line "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs" was written. A must for all Rudyard Kipling fans.
5. Owen Byrne's birthday lunch. A must for all fans of the HRA's press office and Henry Cecil.
6. While we're on the subject, Henry Cecil having two lovely Oaks contenders. A must for all fans of Gucci loafers.
7. The sight of Michael Jarvis's assistant trainer Roger Varian in a flat cap on The Severals (pictured). A must for anyone in need of a good laugh.
Things I have not enjoyed at all:
1. Desiree tying up a week before her intended return at Newmarket. Very disappointing, especially for Olly.
2. Street Sense being beaten on the line (or at the wire as our American cousins say) in the Preakness.
3. Rain, rain, more rain.
4. The nagging realisation that I can put off that diet no longer (thanks to ghastly pics John took of me aboard Panto which shall not be appearing on this blog).
5. The thought that dieting precludes regualr intake of Bombay Sapphire and, in fact, any fun at all.
Oh well, I suppose the good still outweighs the bad. Keep passing the open windows.

Things i've enjoyed this week:
1. I hate to say it but i'm glad Godolphin are having some winners
2. Red Evie winning the Lockinge
3. Alastair Down comparing Gordon Brown's (PM to be) charisma to an unsalted crisp.
4. seeing the first rose bud fully flourish in my desert of a garden.
Things I haven't enjoyed:
1. seeing my garden return to desert state as all the petals fall off said flourishing rose.
I'm glad to see the boys in blue back in the swing of things, too. Also nice to hear that the Godolphin camp (ie Aisling's colleagues) were cheering home Lady Suffragette last night. Well she does run in their colours (almost).
I'd like to see Eastern Anthem (by the lovely Singspiel ex the equally lovely Kazzia) turn out to be a really good horse. Those Singspiels tend to get better with age so let's hope that holds true for this fella.
